This variety is of Quebec origin, probably from the Montreal region as its name suggests. It produces bright red tomatoes of medium size (110gr). Beautiful delicate lettuce, tasty and decorative. The leaves are well cut and lobed. Oak leaf lettuce is resistant to bolting. The leaves can be harvested by cutting them at the base, as needed, leaving the core in place. In this way, you can stretch the harvest during the season. New leaves will continue to grow. Alternatively, you can also wait for the plant to mature and then harvest it in full. The leaves measuring about 15 cm keep very well in the fridge.

Brunswick cabbage is a very old variety originating from Germany and mentioned as early as 1800. Late and short-stalked, it produces a very large soft green head, which can reach 30 to 40 cm, with a slightly flattened shape on the top, at the crunchy texture. We had huge specimens! Sometimes mixes happen on a seed farm. That's what happened one day in spring, when we planted our Moroccan Cressonnette lettuce seeds, grown the previous year. A lettuce had much "plumper" leaves than the watercress, in addition to being very large and having very light and crisp foliage. We collected the seeds and for a few years we selected this fortuitous mixture. We named it Grosse Dodue in reference to its foliage but also because the Grosse Lazy Blonde lettuce grew not far from there. It was perhaps with her that the love story began... In short, Grosse plump is therefore totally Quebecois, new and delicious. Try it!

Cucurbita Maxima

This heirloom variety is originally from France. It is sometimes also called "French turban" or "Giraumon" in French. References to this squash are found in documents as old as 1885, but it is older than the 1820s. This squash is adorned by a very typical orange, white and green bump. Described as an ornamental squash, it is nonetheless delicious in soups or roasts. Its orange flesh is especially sweet.

Indeed, mammoth sunflowers can grow over 3m in height, and they produce gorgeous yellow flowers that can reach more than 30 cm in diameter.
Despite their height, they do not require any tutoring. They can however be a tutor themselves for your other climbing plants such as beans!
Thanks to their fast growth, these sunflowers can also create seasonal plant walls, hedgerows and windbreaks.
The seeds are rich and can be enjoyed by birds as much as by humans!

Cut the entire flower heads. Let them dry in a dry space. Check regularly to make sure the sunflowers are not getting moldy. After a few days, the seeds will sound ‘hollow’ and ‘dry’ when running your fingers over them. You then only need to rub over to remove what’s left of the flowers, and scratch with your fingers to detach the seeds.

Hopi Black Dye sunflowers grow tall and strong, and their flower have sunny yellow petals with a dark purple center. This sunflower variety comes from the Hopi, a Native American tribe, who used it for dyeing. They used it to create grey and purples hues on their basketry and textiles, like cotton and wool. The seeds are edible for humans and birds, and are rich and easy to shell.
