Bishop Castle Tomato (Solanum lycopersicum)
Heirloom Swiss tomato, productive, flavorful, and disease-resistant, producing attractive clusters of red fruits
Les plants de cette variété produisent de nombreux fruits rouges, presque ronds, de 120 à 170 g, en grappes de 3 à 5. Leur chair rouge, juteuse et savoureuse offre un goût bien équilibré. Résistants au fendillement et aux maladies, les fruits se conservent bien après la récolte.
Originaire de Suisse et cultivée à Sissach depuis 1930 par Walter et Marie Müller-Linder, la variété a été emportée en Colombie-Britannique lors de leur immigration en 1952. Longtemps cultivée en serre, elle a ensuite été transmise à François Lebel par leur fille Christine Wiebe, puis intégrée au catalogue des Semences du patrimoine.
