Frontenac tomato (Solanum lycopersicum)
Dark red heirloom tomato, authentic, cold-hardy, flavorful
The origin of this tomato is unknown, but according to an online source, it may come from the Lanaudière region and is considered very old. It is my discovery of the year. The fruit, medium-sized (100 to 200 g), is dark red, very round and uniform, with a truly authentic flavor. It performs well in cooler climates or short-season regions. A great old-fashioned garden tomato! **CARE AND OTHER CONSIDERATIONS** Gradually acclimate the plants to outdoor conditions about 10 days before planting by placing them outside during the day. When planting, lay the plants horizontally while gently bending the stem so that the leaves point upward.
